Skinny Gazelle Ingredients |
What makes Skinny Gazelle such an effective energy drink? Well, it’s all due to its ingredients, as well as what it lacks! This powerful potion is formulated with 19 essential nutrients, known as the Skinny Gazelle Proprietary Blend. Comprised of vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids and various chemical compounds, these nutrients have been shown in clinical studies to impart natural, long-lasting energy.
One natural ingredient in the Skinny Gazelle nutritional blend, the plant hoodia gordonii (hoodia), may play a large role in this drink’s success. Research suggests that this plant may benefit weight management. As such, we’ve formulated this drink with large amounts of our own privately-grown hoodia. (Additional information is provided on the hoodia page.) The following nutrients are found in Skinny Gazelle:
-
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – first utilized in 1747 for scurvy, this is a truly powerful antioxidant. In a study published in Lancet in 2001, 19,000 people had their blood measured for vitamin C. Those with the lowest vitamin C levels were found to be twice as likely to die as those with the highest levels.
Research suggests that vitamin C may benefit such health concerns as: allergies, wound healing, eye/vision health, cardiovascular/cholesterol health, neurological health, immunity, and migraines. Vitamin C may also benefit skin, joint, teeth, cartilage and bone health. And, it may impart properties for chronic diseases, including cancer and diabetes.
This antioxidant may assist in athletic activity and weight management. A published study in Pain found that vitamin C was able to reverse the oxidative damage and muscle soreness caused by regular exercise. This nutrient may also counteract the immunity lost immediately after exercise. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 150mg of vitamin C.
-
Vitamin B3 (as niacin and niacinamide) -- considered a natural alternative for cholesterol health, this B vitamin may play a vital role in more than 200 bodily processes. These include neurological health, and such conditions as arthritis, depression and diabetes.
Along with vitamins B1, B2, B5 and biotin, vitamin B3 is crucial for cellular energy production. Vitamin B3 also processes alcohol and detoxifies the body. This nutrient converts fats, proteins, carbohydrates and starches into usable energy, as well.
Clinical studies suggest that consuming large amounts of vitamin B3 over long periods may result in liver damage. You may also develop ”niacin flush,” which is redness and itchiness on the face and neck. Niacin flush usually lasts for only a few minutes. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 17.5mg of vitamin B3.
-
Vitamin B6 (as pyridoxine hydrochloride) – countless studies suggest that this antioxidant may be one of the most important for everyday health. It plays a large role in at least 100 different chemical reactions.
The main job is of vitamin B6 is to speed up other cellular chemical reactions. It’s required to produce amino acids, and to metabolize fats and carbohydrates. This B vitamin also helps with red blood cell production and may be crucial for neurological health. Vitamin B6 may be essential for mood and mental function, as well as for skin and muscle health.
Along with vitamins B12 and folic acid, vitamin B6 may reduce levels of homocysteine. This harmful molecule has been found to contribute to cardiovascular conditions, as well as osteoporosis. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 27mg of vitamin B6.
-
Folate (as folic acid) – this B vitamin may promote valuable benefits for pregnant women; specifically, that of neural tube defects and low birth weights. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – along with almost ALL healthcare professionals and organizations -- advise every woman of childbearing age (15-45) to take 400 mcg daily. Potential fathers should take folate supplements, as well. Folate may also enhance fertility for both men and women.
Men and women require folate for DNA and RNA production, and cell replication and growth. Folate may be essential for metabolizing amino acids and overall protein function. And, it may be important for cardiovascular health.
Folate has been shown to benefit neurological and mental health. In a 2007 study published in Lancet, the subjects, all over the age of 50, took 800 mcg of folate daily. They experienced improved short-term memory, mental agility and verbal fluency. Studies suggest that folate may also benefit digestive health, tissue growth, and such health concerns as cancer. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 200mcg of folate.
-
Vitamin B12 (as manganese citrate) – research shows that this antioxidant is essential for many important biological processes. Among these are healthy growth, cardiovascular and neurological health, and energy production.
Vitamin B12 is considered vital for metabolizing carbohydrates, fat and proteins. This nutrient assists in producing the antioxidant known as S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM-e), which holds joint and mood benefits. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 250mcg of vitamin B12.
-
Manganese (as manganese sulfate) -- essential for overall health, this mineral is a “trace element.” This means that small amounts are required for proper growth and development. Manganese is important for skin, bone and cartilage health, as well as wound healing. Manganese may enhance normal nerve and brain function. And, it may be crucial for regulating blood sugar (glucose).
Manganese activates the enzymes necessary for metabolizing fats, carbohydrates, amino acids, and cholesterol. It also activates enzymes that may produce and regulate glucose, while another detoxifies ammonia. And, it activates the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), which may serve as a powerful antioxidant. Studies show that this mineral may promote calcium absorption, sex hormone production, and blood-clotting. In addition, it may benefit osteoporosis. Skinny Gazelle is formulated with 2.5mg of manganese.
-
Endurlac™ Glucuronolactone – this metabolite (chemical compound) is one of the main structural components of almost all connective
The Merck Manual (14th edition) lists glucuronolactone as an effective tool for detoxification. Multiple studies show that glucuronolactone may effectively reduce fatigue and sleepiness, and also provide a sense of well-being. And, it’s been shown to improve mental performance, reaction time, concentration and memory. For these reasons, this compound is a common ingredient in energy drinks.
Oh, and you may have heard of a glucuronolactone-related urban legend, in which it was banned due to brain tumor-related deaths. This rumor was proven false, and the FDA has posted no glucuronolactone-related warnings!
- Taurine – this naturally occurring amino acid is crucial for absorbing fats and fat-soluble vitamins. As it dissolves dietary fats in the intestine, taurine aids digestion. A possible antioxidant, taurine enables sodium, potassium, and possibly calcium and magnesium to travel in and out of cells. Taurine may benefit cell membrane stability, and it may prevent brain cells from becoming overworked.
Taurine may promote vision and neurological health. And, it may benefit cardiovascular health, by protecting the heart and regulating heartbeats. A study published in 1983 in Clinical Therapeutics showed that taurine provided treatment for congestive heart failure (CHF) patients.
-
N-acetyl-tyrosine – this amino acid may benefit mental function, by elevating moods, and improving memory and alertness. Tyrosine is also responsible for transmitting nerve impulses to the brain.
Tyrosine is one of 20 amino acids utilized by cells for protein production. A study published in Life Sciences found that supplemental tyrosine provided stress-related protection. This may include fatigue, cold, sleep deprivation, and general stress.
-
Potassium Glycerophosphate –required for general health and well-being, this mineral may preserve the alkalinity (the level of acidity) of the body’s fluids. As such, potassium is charged with maintaining the body’s water and blood pH levels.
An essential electrolyte itself, potassium – along with its fellow mineral and electrolyte, sodium -- plays a key role in maintaining the body’s electrolytes. Potassium is utilized when the signs and symptoms of electrolyte imbalance appear. Research suggests that potassium-rich diets may benefits cardiovascular and skin health, and neuromuscular function . It may assist in transporting oxygen to the brain. And, this mineral enables the removal of body wastes, by stimulating the kidneys. Potassium Glycerophosphate is a remarkably absorbable and bioavailable form of this mineral.
-
Caffeine anhydrous – while Skinny Gazelle contains very little caffeine, a small amount is included. But caffeine actually has some important health benefits! It provides noticeable energy boosts and heightened alertness. Studies show that it assists in the rapid absorption of many vital nutrients. A published study in Human Psychopharmacology found that consuming caffeine held benefits for office workers.
Some men and women may not be able to handle any amount of caffeine. But studies show that the average man or woman can safely consume limited a mounts, with little or no adverse reactions. However, you should limit your caffeine consumption to avoid nervousness, sleeplessness, and occasional rapid heartbeat.
- L-phenylalanine (LPA) – this essential amino acid functions as a building block for multiple proteins. LPA converts to other substances, including the amino acid L-tyrosine and various neurotransmitters. One neurotransmitter, norepinephrine, is responsible for transmitting signals between nerve cells and the brain. It may promote alertness and reduce sleepiness. And, it may reduce hunger, relieve depression, and improve memory.
Studies show that LPA may elevate moods, relieve depression, and enhance memory, alertness and learning. One form, DL-phenylalanine (DLPA), may benefit degenerative conditions. It may also reduce chronic pain, as shown by a study in Medical Hypotheses. LPA releases the intestinal hormone cholecstokinin, which signals a feeling of fullness in the brain after eating. This makes LPA an effective appetite suppressant.
IMPORTANT: You probably noticed the following phrase in our “Supplement Facts”: “Phenylketonurics: Contains phenylalanine.” But isn’t phenylalanine beneficial for our health?
Phenylalanine is found in almost every food containing protein. Unfortunately, certain people are unable to metabolize phenylalanine (this is known as phenylketonuria, or PKU). These people must follow low-protein diets, and avoid any foods with phenylalanine. Typically, we’re tested for PKU at birth, so if you haven’t yet been diagnosed, you’re probably OK. Phenylalanine is found in many sugar-free beverages, as well as the artificial sweetener aspartame (“Equal,” “NutraSweet”). Skinny Gazelle contains NO aspartame, but we want to alert you to any potential health concerns. But the risk is small; you’d find more phenylalanine in a protein-rich meal.
- Magnesium Glycerophosphate – quite simply, this mineral is required by every cell in your body. Magnesium may contribute to more than 300 enzymatic reactions, as well as ALL biological functions! These include: allergy/asthma treatment; B vitamin activation; the formation of nucleic acids and proteins; and overall cellular function. Magnesium may also benefit cardiovascular, neurological and bone health.
Along with calcium, magnesium is responsible for producing and transporting adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body’s source of energy. And for athletes, magnesium may benefit proper muscle contraction and relaxation. In fact, for men and women training daily, it’s considered crucial.
Magnesium provides a calming effect, and may improve relaxation. A 1998 study published in Sleep found that magnesium resulted in significant improvements in sleep efficiency for two sleep-related conditions: period limb movements during sleep and restless leg syndrome. Magnesium may also have therapeutic benefits for diabetes, including improving glucose tolerance, as well as insulin secretion and action. Magnesium Glycerophosphate is a remarkably absorbable and bioavailable form of this mineral.
- Octopamine HCL – this biological substance was first discovered in 1948 in an octopus’ salivary glands.. It may benefit depression, by contributing to higher levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is thought to impact behavior and cognition, motor activity, sleep, mood, and learning.
Octopamine may improve weight management, as it assists in releasing fat from fat cells (known as “lipolysis”). As such, octopamine is utilized as a weight loss tool. In 2003, the Journal of Physiology and Biochemistry published an animal study showing that octopamine effectively reduced body weight gain in obese rats, with no apparent side effects.
- Aspidosperma quebracho-blanco (quebracho) – this Argentinean tree species (meaning “axe-breaker”) may enhance male sexual health. Quebracho may target erectile dysfunction, and it’s been found offer stronger and more concentrated benefits than similar nutrients. Quebracho may enable blood to freely flow to the necessary areas.
Quebracho may offer valuable properties for respiratory health and lung function. For shortness of breath, this herb may increase the rate and depth of breathing. It has been shown to effectively lower blood pressure and body temperatures (including fevers).

L-Leucine – this amino acid may benefit muscle health and function. Once adults reach the age of 40, they may lose 0.5-2% of their muscle every year. However, a study in the Journal of Physiology found that leucine successfully increased the formation of muscle proteins. Leucine also displays properties for liver health, as well as for diabetes.
Leucine metabolizes into the compound beta hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB). The body may use HMB to limit the breakdown of protein following intense exercise. This may improve athletic performance, and increase muscle mass and strength. Athletes taking HMB may experience faster losses of body fat, and faster recovery from exercise-related muscle damage and post-workout soreness. HMB may benefit high cholesterol, as well.
-
Lepidium meyenii (maca) – favored by Peruvian natives for over 2,000 years, this root may increase energy and stamina in men and women. Maca may also benefit male and female hormonal systems. This herb may be effectively increase libido in healthy men. And, this may be done without affecting the levels of testosterone or other sex hormones.
